SIEMAT – Guidelines on Foundational learning study – instructions
• Special
focus is to be laid on the following subtasks
Oral Language Comprehension: The ability to understand the meaning of
language (through spoken stories or pictures)
Phonological Awareness: The ability to identify sounds within a given
word
Decoding Letters: The ability to sound out the symbols (letters)
Decoding Words: The ability to sound out words
Decoding Non-Words: the ability to sound out non-words by identifying
each
symbol’s (letter) sound
Picture Matching: The ability to understand the meaning of written text.
Benchmark of oral reading fluency with Comprehension: Correctly read
words
with comprehension in one minute.
Number identification, Number discrimination, Number operation (addition
and
subtraction), Word problems (addition and
subtraction), Number operations (Division
and Multiplication), Measurement, Fractions,
Patterns and Data Handling.
