PM POSHAN (MDM) Celebrations of International Year of Millets-2023- Certain instructions

Ref:-Lr.D.O.No.4-5/2022-PM POSHAN-1-1(EE.5), dt.27.09.2022 from the Joint Secretary(EE.I) of Education, Govt of India, Department of School Education & Literacy, New Delhi with enclosures.

All the Regional Joint Directors of School Education (RJDSES) and District Educational Officers(DEOs) in the State are hereby informed that as you are aware that Millets are group of small grains abode of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that can help to eradicate the plethora of nutritional deficiency diseases. Millets are bestowed with a wealth of nutrients and fibre and that supports boost metabolism, augment heart health, control blood pressure and diabetes and promote weight loss.

Further informed that the UN General assembly has recently adopted a resolution and declared 2023 as by as the "International Year of Millets". The resolution is intended to increase public awareness on health benefits of millets and their sustainability for cultivation under tough conditions marked by climate change. The Main objectives of international year of millets celebrations are:

a, Elevate awareness of the contribution of millets to food security and nutrition

b. Inspire stakeholders on improving sustainable production and quality of millets

c. Draw focus on enhanced investment in research and development may conduct 3-4 of the suggested active

Hence, the following activities a activities listed at Annexure-1 have to b State for celebration of "International POSHAN (MDM):

1. An E-Quiz competition (1st to 30th on MyGov portal exclusively on mill separately)

ii. Districts may prepare small videos

and disseminate up to school level. iii.Special meetings of school managem discuss the importance of millets in d iv.Every student may prepare a meal m a selfie and share with a teacher and p v. A student in each class may be design they can discuss about millets in class. vi. Training and capacity building program awareness of the school children regarding the goodness of millets,
