Department -Request for starting of Pre-Schools at Model Anganwadi Centres in
the State -Request -Regarding.

The attention of all the
Commissioners of Urban Local Bodies in the State (where the Municipal Schools
exists) are invited to the reference cited (copy enclosed), wherein meeting has
been convened to implement Pre-School Component in a more effective manner. in
Municipal areas in partnership with MA&UD Department on 12.05.2017 in the
010. Commissionerate, WD&CW, AP., Guntur. The Department of MA&UD has
come forward to support Department of WD&CW in providing unutilized
buildings, bringing child friendly ambience to centres, providing basic
facilities like drinking water and toilets and learning material. During the
meeting, certain decisions have been taken jointly to improve Pre-School
activities in AWCs in Urban areas. The following are the two decisions;
a) Suitable Government
vacant buildings having sufficient space are to be identified by Municipal
authorities for locating the merged AWCs. Wherever Government buildings are not
there, suitable private buildings can be rented with the amount provisioned for
this purpose and any amount over and above maybe contributed by the ULBs.
b) Commissioner of Urban
Local Bodies (ULBs) will forge partnership with local
donors/Corporates/business community to provide uniforms,shoes tot he Children
enrolled and also to provide hand wash stations, LED TV (for teaching through
audio visual aids) etc., to the centres to make learning joyful as a part of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
