IMPLEMENTATION OF TWO SEMESTER SYSTEM
'TWO SEMESTER SYSTEM' - INSTRUCTIONS
ORDER:
All the Regional
Joint Directors of School Education,
All the
District Educational Officers, All the APCs of Samagra Shihsha and all the
Principals of DIETS in the
State are aware that the Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken steps for effective implementation
of National Educational Policy-2020 by emphasizing the quality of education and reforms in school education in a big way by the implementation of the
transformation of existing educational ecosystem.
2. SCERT as the academic authority is revising syllabi and textbooks in a phased manner. For this purpose, SCERT conducted a detailed study about the curriculum, syllabus, and textbooks of NCERT and other State boards in the country and abroad. SCERT developed textbooks for classes I to V in Bilingual format with ‘Trimester System and Class VI textbooks with ‘Two-Semester System from the academic year 2020-2021. Class VII and Class VIII textbooks were developed in Two-Semester System from the academic year 2021-22 and 2022-23 respectively.
3. After careful examination of the recommendations of the SCERT vide reference 2nd cited through the
opinions of various stakeholders of the School Education
Department personnel
and impact studies on new textbooks suggested that it is concluded to follow a uniform pattern in term-based syllabi
and textbooks instead of
multiple patterns. The Semester System will be helpful to both students and teachers, Learning becomes more meaningful.
4. Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education, District Educational Officers, Additional Project Coordinators of Samagra Shihsha and Principals of DIETs in the State are informed that the state will follow the two-semester system from class I to IX from the academic year 2023-24 and from 2024-25 in respect of Class X
